A big step...

Okay, so Brad took Laci to school this morning. He just called and said he did not walk her to her class like we have been doing. He dropped her off at the door and let her walk to her class! I am freaking out and having to keep my hands off of my phone. I want to call or text her teacher so bad and make sure she is in her class! I picture her wandering around the school lost and confused (that would be satan putting that in my head). But, thankfully she belongs to God and He is watching over her every step she takes!!!!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Well, the first day of Kindergarten was a success for Laci. She loved it and was excited to go back! Day 2 also went well! Here is a rundown of the first day of school.

We started the day with a healthy breakfast (I hope she doesn't get used to all this). She had toast w/ jelly, scrambled eggs, cantelope and chocolate milk. She was pumped! But, it was early!
Let me say that Brad was out of town. So, day one and day 2 were all me! I was up at 5:30 both mornings to make sure I remembered everything. Needless to say, that meant Meg had to be up and ready to go as well!

Here is Laci ready to go. You can tell she is nervous with her faces!

Here is Laci in the car on the way to school. She is talking to her daddy on the phone! I did not do a very good job of taking pictures at the school. But, I have an excuse. Besides the chaos of the first day, I had Megan. And, before I could get Laci to her seat Megan had dumped out 2 tubs of Legos and sat down in someone's chair. When I tried to pull her out of the chair, she let out a yelp and I decided I'd better hang on to her!

Thankfully, the experienced moms in our Little Circle of Mom's group had a brunch planned for us to talk, chat, let our little kids play and keep our minds off of children being alone at a new place for 7 hours!

Here is Laci walking out at the end of school! I thought it was going to be bad when I saw her chewing on her water bottle! But, behind that water bottle.....

...there was a smile!!!

I received a great piece of advice a couple of days before Laci started school (thank you to Mrs. Hilborn). She basically said to not dread this day and experience so bad that I miss the excitement of it. Everytime I bought something for school or someone even mentioned I would tear up!!! I was definitely missing the excitement!!! Thank you, Hilborn! You caught me just in time to capture the excitement!! I hope I will remember that advice as we reach each new stage!!!!
Thanks to all who called, texted, and prayed!!! It was a wonderful experience!!!

Twas the Night Before Kindergarten

Last night just before we were getting ready for bed, Christa brought over a book for Laci. It is called "Twas the Night Before Kindergarten." Laci was so excited because Megan was already asleep and we could sit and read together! And, that is just what we did. We cuddled up in a chair together and with only the lamp on we read the book....3 times. I almost cried the first time, but just stopped so I could pull it together! Here are a few pics!

Right before we read the book Laci got up in the bed with Megan, put her blanket on her and kissed her on the cheek. I heard Laci say (and, yes, Meg was asleep), "I'll be home after school and then we can play." I love these girls!

Brad was out of town for the big event so the girls got to sleep with me! So, after we read the book we curled up together and watched Hannah Montanna: The Movie! I could tell Laci was anxious and fidgety so we watched that together and then she fell asleep about 10:30. (I knew she would be up late b/c she was nervoux/excited)
This morning went great. It is 30 minutes from now when I get to pick her up! I do have pics and stories but I will share later! One quick story....I told Meg is was about time to pick up Laci and she said, "when she gets in the car I'm gonna hit her." I said why and Megan said, "because she leaved me here." I thought it was precious that she wanted to stay with Laci!

The Petting Zoo

We have had an exciting last few days. I guess we are trying to cram all the fun in since life is changing Wednesday with Laci starting school! Thursday, Nonny took us to Wild River Country. It was awesome! Laci will ride EVERY ride there (except the toilet bowl ride) and we have to keep Megan off the rides that she is not big enough to ride. It was such a fun day. That night we had Open House at school! God protected me from an anxiety attack in the parking lot! I feel the prayers and I thank you! It went great! Friday we went to Mamaw Caples to play with Hunter. He is Laci's cousin who is 2 weeks younger. He is also starting school Wednesday and so we took our waterslide down there and played with him! And, if that wasn't enough, we spent Friday afternoon, night and all day Saturday at Bubba, Patti, Olivia, and Luke's cabin on Petit Jean. It was very fun! Here are a few pics from the Petting Zoo just down the road from their cabin! (it doesn't really qualify as a cabin; more like resort)

Nonny and the Goat

This is the baby goat!
It was so tiny and so cute! For a split second it makes you want it for a pet. Then, the momma goat started eating my camera bag!

The girls riding a horse!

Luke, me and the baby goat!!!!
(no, I did not take make-up to the cabin or take a shower)

Story: There was also a fawn...baby deer!!! It's mom was shot in the woods and someone brought the deer to the petting zoo! Megan loved it! Again, you think, that would so much fun to have in my backyard!

The precious baby goat!!!! (would that be called a Kid?)

Laci loved that kitten!!! Too bad I'd rather have the goat AND the deer before I would have a cat!! I don't know why I am not a fan of cats!

Megan could not understand why the baby deer would not eat her food. She even poured it on the ground to see if the deer would eat it. And, then, we figured out why!!!
It was bottle fed!!!!

SOOOOO FUN AND PRECIOUS!!!!

Thank you Vance family for a wonderful time at the cabin!!!!!! and, the wonderful food!!!
I must add that Megan took right to Bubba and just loved him! They had a book on the coffee table talking about birds and it had lots of pictures of different types of birds. Everytime Bubba sat down Megan would run get the book and jump up into his lap for him look at birds with her. Even during breakfast (on the deck) she went inside got the book and brought it back out to him! It was so cute!

One Week from today!...

A week from today, Laci will be experiencing her first day of Kindergarten. We have bought her school supplies and today she had her 5 year old doctor's appointment and Pre-Kindergarten shots! She did very well! Yes, she cried...but, only until she got stickers! The doctor said she was tall!! And, if she continues on the growing path she is now and stays in her current percentile, we are looking at her being 5'9". AWESOME!!!!!! I love that!!!! (and Meg will be 4'9"...haha, not really) Anyway, he said she looked great!

I must admit there was a part of me hoping the doctor would say maybe you should hold her out another year! I know deep down she is ready, but it is so hard to let her go!!!
She found out her teacher and we are very excited about that. She also found out 2 of her very good friends will be in her class and one of them is sitting at her table.
Tomorrow night is Open House. We will go to her classroom, officially meet her teacher. She will also take her supplies and fine her very own seat!!!!!!
Any suggestions on what I should next Wednesday after I take her to school?????
I will have Megan with me and would like to go do something. But, if I do not have anything planned I will probably have a hard time turning around and walking away! We'll probably end up at Target!

Birthdays at Mamaw's

Yesterday was my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Dad, aka Poppy! We used to go to Mamaw and Papaw Caple's every Sunday after church. We haven't done that in years. So, when Mamaw called and invited us down to celebrate dad's birthday, we decided to go! It was a lot of fun and even more fun to watch the girls play!

They picked apples off of the apple tree and for some reason Megan said she wanted to put them in Cosmo's lap. (Cosmo is a dog) He was so good and gentle! We were inside and I caught these pics through the back door!

They also had made a new tree swing out of a burlap sack and hay! It was awesome! As you can see, it was a hit with the adults as well!
Here is Brad!

Brad swinging the swing right at my head as I walked by!

Of course, I had to take my turn!
